Course Description
Do you enjoy spending time outside and discovering nature? Would you like to learn more about the science of outdoor survival? During this course, students will learn the science behind outdoor navigation, geocaching, identification of edible plants and which ones to avoid, shelter building, starting and using a fire in a survival situation and discovering other natural resources used for survival. Students will use instruments such as: a compass, GPS, water collection systems and fire starting techniques. Classes are held June 10 - July 3 from 8:00-11:30 am.REQUIREMENTS: FALL 2024 - Grades 6 - 8
WEATHER CONDITIONS
In the event of rain, classes will still be held at the J.S.O.L. shelter. Parents are urged to use their own discretion in sending children in inclement weather. Contact the J.S.O.L. Shelter at 608-754-8327 if you have concerns or questions on the day of the inclement weather.
