Course Description

TAGOS Leadership Academy summer school is intended for students currently enrolled at TAGOS during the regular school year and who are entering 7th through 12th grade in the fall.  Summer school programming will run from June 17—July 12, from 8:30 am—11:00 am. 
TAGOS Leadership Academy is a project based learning environment and all students, regardless of grade level will design, develop, and complete one or more projects on the topics and subject areas of their choice during this five-week session.  High school students may earn 0.5 credits or more depending on the number of projects completed. 
Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to a complex question, problem, or challenge. Essential Elements of PBL include: significant content, 21st Century competencies, in-depth inquiry, an essential or driving question, the need to know, voice and choice, critique and revision, and sharing your knowledge with others.  PBL is an effective way to learn and develop deeper knowledge needed for success in college, career, and civic life (Buck Institute for Education).
REQUIREMENTS:  Fall 2019 — Grades 7 - 12
Students must currently be enrolled at TAGOS Leadership Academy to participate in the Summer School programming.
